Description
The Oracle Sun X2-4 x86 Server (formerly the Sun Fire X4470 M2 server) is a four-socket, enterprise-class x86-based server with 3RU of expandability, density, and power efficiency. It’s a great platform for consolidating mixed workloads.
Up to four Intel Xeon processor E7-4800 product family CPUs with up to 1 TB of memory and 3.6 TB of internal storage power the Sun Server X2-4.
It is the most effective platform for business application consolidation and virtualization. With best-in-class performance, power efficiency, density, and a highly expandable design, it is the industry’s leading compact and expandable enterprise-class 4-socket x86 server.
Through a 3U enclosure, it provides outstanding virtualization capacity to increase server utilization and reduce data center footprint.
Sun Server X2-4 offers two flash integration options for application and database acceleration, similar to the previous generation server: Sun Flash Acceleration F20 PCIe cards and Solid State Drives (SSDs). These flash options provide up to 400 Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) of I/O performance for turbo charging applications while eliminating bottlenecks and lowering power consumption.

Power and Security
The Sun Server X2-4 doubles the memory to 1 TB and doubles the storage capacity to 3.6 TB over the previous generation system, enhancing the system’s virtualization capabilities. Furthermore, a 25% increase in processor cores and threads improves performance while maintaining the same maximum CPU Thermal Design Power (TDP), making this server the densest and fastest in its class.
